About Dawn Johnson

Dawn Johnson, resident of San Antonio, Texas, holds more than two decades of administrative experience, including four years as Executive Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer of United Services Automobile Association (USAA). A graduate of Kansas State University in Manhattan, Ms. Johnson studied journalism and mass communications as well as marketing and public relations. Upon completion of her Bachelor of Science, she eventually became a Marketing Programs Specialist at USAA in San Antonio, Texas, in 1987. Working for the large insurance company for more than 20 years, Dawn Johnson rose through the ranks of the firm until her departure in 2008. Consistently recognized for her work ethic and understanding of the company’s goals, Dawn Johnson assumed the role of President and Chief Executive Officer of USAA Financial Planning Services in 2001. Faced with a complete restructuring in one year, Ms. Johnson rebuilt the credibility of the financial planning division, reinvigorated profit and loss numbers, and improved workflow and profitability. While closing seven satellite offices, she maintained a high level of customer service through USAA’s home office. Recognized for her outstanding accomplishments during this time, Dawn Johnson became the President and Chief Executive Officer of USAA Alliance Services in 2003. Reviewing the company’s partnership programs, she tightened existing partnerships to better reflect the firm’s brand. Since her undergraduate studies, Dawn Johnson has completed USAA’s Managerial Information Seminar series, the Emerging Leaders Program, and attended the Stanford Graduate School of Business Executive Education program. She held a Series 7 General Securities License and Series 24 General Securities Principal License. Dawn Johnson supports charitable organizations such as the Jack and Jill Late Stage Cancer Foundation, The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, Habitat for Humanity International, and Wounded Warriors.
